چکیده
It has come to the attention of the Optical Society of America that this article should not have been submitted owing to its substantial replication, without appropriate attribution, of significant elements found in the following previously published material: A. Crunteanu, D. Bouyge, D. Sabourdy, P. Blondy, V. Couderc, L. Grossard, P. H. Ploger and A. Barthelemy, "Deformable micro-electromechanical mirror integration in a fibre laser Q-switched system," J. Opt. A: Pure Appl. Opt. 8 S347-S351 (2006).In this paper, active Q-switching of a double clad codoped erbium-Ytterbium fiber laser using a deformable metallic micro-mirror system is demonstrated. The electrostatically actuated micro-mirror acts both as the end laser cavity reflector and as switching/modulator element. When actuated, its shape changes from planar to a concave curvature, allowing control of the Q-factor of the laser cavity. The mirror/switching element is small, compact, highly reflective and achromatic, with a great integration potential. The laser system operates at frequencies between 20 and 200 kHz and generates short pulses (FWHM down to 300 ns) and high peak powers.

Experimental Study of a Flash-lamp Pumped Passively Q-Switched Nd:YAG Laser Using Cr4+:YAG Saturable Absorber
This paper deals with the experimental results of a xenon flash-lamp pumped passively Q-switched Nd:YAG laser using Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber. The need of a laser cavity to be integrated into a time-of-flight laser range finder is of great interest as an experimental investigation of several laser resonators. Two types of laser resonator, with different lengths, have been studied: the flat-fl...
متن کاملIntegration of Micro-Electro-Mechanical Deformable Mirrors in Doped Fiber Amplifiers
We present a simple technique to produce active Qswitching in various types of fiber amplifiers by active integration of an electrostatic actuated deformable metallic micro-mirror. The optical MEMS (MOEMS) device acts as one of the laser cavity reflectors and, at the same time, as switching/ modulator element. We aim to obtain laser systems emitting short, high-power pulses and having variable ...

In this paper, we report the experimental results of a pulsed flash lamped Nd:YAG laser at wavelength of 1064 nm and Qswitched by Cr4+:YAG solid state saturable absorber. We have obtained the output energy (E) and pulse-width ( p τ ) of this laser for various initial transmissions of this saturable absorber. Furthermore, the effect of reflectivity of the output coupler (R), diameter of the rod ...
متن کاملA Numerical Improvement in Analyzing the Dynamic Characteristics of an Electrostatically Actuated Micro-beam in Fluid Loading with Free Boundary Approach
Electrostatically actuated microbeams have been studied by many researchers in the last few years. The aim of this study is to present an improved numerical analysis of the dynamic instability of a cantilever microbeam immersed in an incompressible viscous fluid. The finite element method is used for solving the vibrational equation of the microbeam and the potential functions of the fluids in ...
متن کاملDynamic and Static Pull-in instability of electrostatically actuated nano/micro membranes under the effects of Casimir force and squeezed film damping
In the current study, the effects of Casimir force and squeeze film damping on pull-in instability and dynamic behavior of electrostatically actuated nano and micro electromechanical systems are investigated separately. Linear elastic membrane theory is used to model the static and dynamic behavior of the system for strip, annular and disk geometries. Squeeze film damping is modeled using nonli...
